I created this card for a co-worker who just got a job as a principal. The stamp is Wee Blossoms by Wee Stamps. I used the sketch from Friday Sketchers and I was VERY motivated by the Anything Goes Challenge at the Simon Say Challenge Blog. I added Primas to the flowers in the image to give it a 3D flair. The pearl in the centers of the flowers are from Stampin' Up and I colored them with my DB Studio Markers. I colored with my DickBlick Art Studio Markers and the designer papers are from DCWV The Crafty Stack. The card base is made from Core-dinations CS (which is by far my favorite CS) from the Nostalgia Super Stack. I really enjoyed creating with this little image. I added an oval and cut the whole thing using my Silhouette. The color combination was new for me but I really like the way it turned out. Thanks for looking.

This morning I had the whole house to myself, including no puppy! So I started my Saturday the usual way...looking for inspiration and an excuse to get out of cleaning. I found a sketch on CPS-Card Sketches that I found intriguing and I knew just the digi set I wanted to use on the card (Bugaboo Stamps-MS Bunny Blocks). So finally around 6:00 pm I sat down to start the card and checked the website again for all the details. Then I realized the card was due 8:00pm central. It is now 8:30 eastern and I am finished with the card. The glue is still wet... Not sure about the card but I still love the sketch and the images.

Cute Card Thursday Challenge

Lately I have really been admiring the cards with all the different flower elements. I have wanted to try one but have always put it off. As I was looking through challenges (and being completely overwhelmed by the sheer number of challenges out there) I found Cute Card Thursday . The sketch they have posted for the challenge is exactly what I have been wanting to do. But it was truly the hardest challenge because it was out of my comfort zone. I used several different patterned papers, I matted and layered (which I am usually in too big of a hurry to do), and I used flowers with different patterns... As I have said before I have a hard time mixing and matching patterns. I also entered the card into the Catered Crop Challenge which gave the following "recipe" for a card (I highlighted what I accomplished)

Pattern Paper – Go Crazy with Patterns!
Colors – Anything Goes! Mix and match, try some black accents
Stamps – Aprons, images from the kitchen or cupcakes
Color Mediums – Prisma Pencils, pens (like Sharpies or Jelly Roll), black ink, distress inks
Embellishments – pearls, ribbon, rickrack
Misc. Supplies – Puff Paints, Glossy Accents, ModPodge
Tools – border punches or die cuts (or use paper trims)
Techniques – mixing patterns, coloring with Prisma pencils
Theme – cooking or cupcakes
Shapes – Squares -the card is square

3 cards in one night....How Do I stack up???

OK, I have been putting off making these cards (not because I didn't want to do them, quite the opposite, because I wanted to do them well and I was waiting for inspiration). My dickblick studio markers and colored pencils with gamsol (of course) came in this week. They were my Valentine's day gift from hubby.

It seems like everyone in my family has birthdays in February. So I have lots of opportunities to try different techniques. This weekend I made a pocket card for my 2 year old nephew, a tab card for my niece Vaughn and a Bowser Jr card for my nephew Anderson using a coloring sheet I found online.

I am entering all three of these into the Dots Challenge at Do You Stack Up Blog Challenge, Creative Inspirations Paintchallenge to use stripes and dots (the Bowswer card) and Pile It On (where they encourage you to Pile on the Challenges...this weeks theme there is Childhood Dreams (see Bowswer card)!). I have always loved using dots in my work. Just so happened that all three have dots of some kind

This is Bowser, Jr. I found this coloring page online, reduced the size and created this card for Anderson, who truly believes HE IS Bowser Jr. I think it works perfectly for dots and stripes for the Creative Inspirations Paint blog. The Pile it on Challenge was childhood dreams and since Anderson dreams of being in the "Bowser family" one day I think this counts... Thanks for looking. How is that for Piling It on?

Card for Pregnant Friend

I made this card for my friend Heidi, she just found out she is pregnant with her 3rd child. I was so excited for them that I was inspired to make a card..."Expecting Love" I was really happy with the results, she said it was the most beautiful card she had every seen. Makes me smile!

First Try-Shutter Fold Card

This was my first try with a shutter fold card. It was made completely with scraps of paper. I always have the hardest time coordinating paper. This was from a paper pack that I was RAKed years ago. I had used pages but never really used the patterns together. Thanks to youtube and tutorial videos this was very easy.

Thanks for looking. I am going to enter this card in a weekly challenge at Do You Stack Up?. I think it definitely uses several different patterns, something I wasn't entirely comfortable with to begin with. I designed the digistamp you see in the picture using Microsoft Publisher and cutting it out using my silhouette. Thanks for looking.--Lori K.

New Year's Resolution--Card Making Style

OK, I am back. This year (2011) I have decided that I am going to attempt to send a birthday card to everyone in my address book. Basically, if I know your birthday you are getting a card. I need to find an excuse to use all my paper crafting materials, and a justification for buying more. I am going to try to post pictures more often.

Today is a snow day so I have a good opportunity to get ahead. I have one belated birthday card to get done and I am already finished with one other. I also want to attempt Valentine cards for all of Haley's teachers (this includes her homeroom teacher, planning teachers, and gifted teachers=total 8). I would love to see more snow days...More days to get creative.

Here's Hoping I follow through and you will get a birthday card.

Stamp Something Challenge--Pink, Green, and Yellow Somethings

I had to make a card today but was putting it off all morning because I just couldn't get an idea of how I wanted it to look. Then I found the Stamp Something Challenge blog. This week's challenge was to use the colors pink, green, and yellow (shades or hues didn't matter). Then I saw a Little Sizzle pad from Sizzix sitting next to my computer. On the cover was the sample of a page with green, yellow, and pink checks....PERFECT. Less than 20 minutes later I had created the card that took all morning to "figure out". Thank you to the Stamp Something Challenge Blog, you helped me find my get up and go!

The stamps at Peachy Keen Stamps are just too darn cute! This week's challenge is to create a card using their sketch, stripes, 3 buttons and a sentiment. I had to jump on this challenge because the blog candy offer is for a $20.00 GC to Peachy Keen Stamps. I have my eye on several so I immediately hopped onto working on this card. I originally thought I would give it to my mom to send to a cousin who just had surgery. But, the sentiment reads "too much of a good thing is simply wonderful" and since she was having surgery to remove a tooth (that shouldn't have been there in the first place), I decided to keep it until a proper occasion pops up. Creative Card Crew- Ribbon Challenge 18

This week's challenge at Creative Card Crew was to use ribbon. I find that I always try to use ribbon on a card but have a hard time matching or finding just the right one. The prize this week is from Craft Ribbons, boy do they have a great selection....(ps if DH is reading this my birthday is coming up soon). I made this card to send to a friend's daughter who just came here for a playdate to thank her for spending time with us. I usually use ribbon and tie a bow around the card, since this was a challenge I decided to use it in a different way. Enjoy!

Peachy Keen Stamps Sketch Challenge 2

I read about this challenge about 3 hours ago on http://peachykeenstampschallenge.blogspot.com/ and finally finished the card and scanned it in. I really like the sketch and it was perfect for the images I had picked out. The scan is crooked and blurry but it is late. I hope I can get a chance to take a picture of the card and post it as it should be.

I would love to say that this was a quick little card, but it took me almost 2 hours total. I decided I wanted to create a Monsters vs. Aliens card for him because he LOVED the movie. So I got the bright idea to create a RoboMaster file to cut out Bob. (I found a coloring book page online, saved it as a jpeg, and converted it in RoboMaster). That didn't take very long. Then I cut all the colors (that didn't take long), glue it all together (not long at all). Then I tried to look for the perfect patterned paper, I found it right away (thanks Kpinsonat for the RAK). The sentiment took forever to find. I finally settle on the right one and now at 10:08 pm I am posting this card. Ironic part of it all...my nephew is only 5 and can't read yet!

After reading about copics and researching cheaper alternatives I decided to try Sharpies. This fish is my first attempt at coloring and blending. I definitely have more work to do. I will probably go out and by the Bic Mark Its and Fine Tip Sharpies. This was fun. Although now I realize that I don't have many "color-able" stamps. This fish set was the only one that lent itself to coloring. I guess I am going to have to do some stamp shopping as well....

Last Day of Spring Break

Ok, last day of spring break and I haven't accomplished anything I set out to do. I did complete a few scrappy projects but my house is a wreck, the laundry is not done, and my sleep schedule is completely out of whack. DH has a broken foot and is completely down about it. He hasn't been able to get anything done either. Guess there is always next weekend.

Well, since my favorite scrapbook community has closed, I have decided to move further into the 21st Century and start a blog of my creations. It seems like the "in thing" to do. Although I would consider myself very computer literate I haven't offically created my own blog before. (I did one for a school project but never really learned much about them). I am hoping this will be a good way to post and view my scrapbooking projects. I am hoping I can use this as a forum to share my work as well. Now I just have to figure out uploading photos and archiving my old work. Guess I have my spring break cut out for me.
